Our tour to the land of the Tsars begins in Moscow with a visit to the Red Square, the Kremlin, St. Basil’s Church and the Bolchoi Theatre. The tour continues with your own guide and driver to discover the cities of the Golden Ring – Suzdal, Yuriev Polsky, Rostov and Yaroslavl. Last stop will be St. Petersburg, which you will reach by night train in a first class sleeper. St. Petersburg is the most European of all cities in Russia and offers a vibrant immersion in the European Capital of the Tsars, where art, culture and luxury are omnipresent.

DAY 1 – Arrival in Moscow

Arrival at Moscow Airport.

Transfer to your hotel in the centre of Moscow, during which your private guide will give you some initial information and inside tips, so that you can fully benefit from your time in the Russian capital from the start.

DAY 2 – Moscow

City tour with your own private tour guide and driver. We start by visiting the most famous monuments of the Russian capital. We will visit the Red Square, which separates the Kremlin from the historic commercial quarters. The most important avenues in Moscow start from the Red Square, which is therefore considered to be the centre of the whole of Russia. We will visit the world famous Saint Basil’s Cathedral with its elegant onion domes, inaugurated in 1561, and the Bolshoi Theatre. The Kremlin is a fortified area in the very centre of Moscow and has four palaces and four cathedrals within the Kremlin wall. Since 1955, the Kremlin is open to the public and in 1990 the Kremlin was declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

DAY 3 – Moscow

Tour with your own private tour guide and driver to the Tretyakov Gallery, one of the most important art galleries in the world. The Tretyakov Gallery was founded in 1856 by the great Moscow industrialist Pavel Michailovich Tretyakov with the aim to create an important artistic collection. In August 1892, Pavel Tretyakov donated his collection to the city of Moscow. The Tretyakov Gallery has more than 130 000 works of art, among others The Virgin of Vladímir, Trinity by Andrei Rubliov, Composition VII by Vasiliy Kandinski and many famous works of art by artists such as Ivan Argunov and Marc Chagall.

DAY 4 – Moscow – Suzdal

 

Departure from Moscow with your own private tour guide and driver in the morning. Upon arrival in Suzdal, we will have lunch in a local restaurant. Suzdal is a very important religious center with many monasteries and churches and is famous for its old Russian architecture, which is still intact here. Walking down the street you will get the impression that every third building is a church. We will visit the Kremlin of Suzdal and the Museum of Wooden Architecture.

DAY 5 – Suzdal – Yuriev Polsky – Rostov – Yaroslavl

Departure from Suzdal with your own private tour guide and driver in the morning. Our first stop will be in the small city of Yuriev Polsky, founded in 1152 and with approximately 20000 inhabitants, where will take some photos of the most important sights. We then continue to Rostov, where we will have lunch in a local restaurant before visiting the Rostov Kremlin. In the 13th century, Rostov was made capital of one of the most important Russian principalities and the Rostov Kremlin is considered to be one of the finest in Russia, next to the Moscow Kremlin. In the afternoon, we continue our tour to the city of Yaroslavl.

DAY 6 – Yaroslavl – St. Petersburg

City tour of Yaroslavl with your own private guide and driver to the Assumption Cathedral, the Church of Eliah the Prophet and the Transfiguration Monastery. Lunch at a local restaurant Free afternoon in Yaroslavl

DAY 7 –  St. Petersburg

Your guide in St. Petersburg will meet you at the train station and the city tour starts right away. You will be enchanted by St Petersburg, one of the most elegant and sophisticated cities of the world! The city tour in the afternoon with your own private guide and driver will take you through the streets and along the embankments of this beautiful city founded by Tsar Peter the Great in 1703 – where every building is a work of art. We will visit the Palace Square with the magnificent Winter Palace, St Isaac’s Cathedral, one of the largest in the world, and you will also see many famous monuments and palaces designed by renowned architects such as St. Peter and Paul’s Fortress, Nevsky prospect, St Basil’s Island, the famous Bronze Horseman and the Smolny Institute.

DAY 8 – St. Petersburg

Tour with your own private guide and driver to the Hermitage, one of the greatest museums in the world. The Hermitage consists of five interlinked buildings, the most famous of them being the Winter Palace, previously the residence of the Imperial family. It contains over three million exhibits and is one of the best art collections in the world. The gallery is most famous for its collection of Western European art, with paintings by Monet, Cezanne, Renoir, Picasso, da Vinci, Michelangelo, Rubens and Rembrandt. The splendor of the museum is all the more enhanced by the incredible beauty of the buildings, inside and outside with ornate and regal facades, huge frescoed halls, marble, wooden and mosaic floors.

 

DAY 9 – St. Petersburg

Tour with your own private guide and driver to Peterhof Palace. The spectacular Peterhof Palace is situated on the southern shore of the Gulf of Finland, 18 miles from St Petersburg. Set in magnificent gardens, Peterhof is reminiscent of Versailles. The Grand Palace, built for Peter I, enlarged by Rastrelli for Empress Elizabeth and later remodeled for Catherine the Great, was almost completely destroyed by the Nazis in World War II, but has now been restored to its full splendor. The gardens are dotted with many fountains and charming pavilions. During this tour you will visit both the interior of Peterhof and its gardens.

DAY 10: Departure from St. Petersburg

Transfer to St. Petersburg airport.
