Saariselkä is situated north of the polar circle in a mountainous region in the heart of the splendid scenery of Finnish Lapland, close to Urho Kekkonen National Park. The closest airport is at Ivalo, at 35 km from Saariselkä, and there are daily flights from Helsinki. You will have the opportunity to spend a night in a glass igloo from where you can admire the stars and the aurora borealis through a glass dome. Kakslauttanen Igloo Village also has its own snow chapel and an ice bar which are rebuilt every winter.

DAY 1

Welcome to Ivalo and Finnish Lapland

Transfer from Ivalo Airport to Holiday Club at the centre of Saariselkä
Accomodation in double/twin/family room at Holiday Club
Half-board (breakfast and dinner buffet)
Access to the tropical spa and swimming pool at Holiday Club Saariselkä during the entire stay at Saariselkä

DAY 2

Morning : Reindeer Safari (2 hours)

In the old days the only means of winter transportation for the people of Lapland was on sleighs pulled by reindeer. Often, there could be as many as 25 – 30 reindeer in a long raito caravan. You will experience this traditional, peaceful way of moving through snowscapes where the only sound you will hear is the light ringing of reindeer bells. Hot drink will be served by the fire. Transfer back from and to the hotel by minibus.

DAY 3

Morning : Husky Safari (3 hours)

The barking of enthusiastic dogs will welcome you to the safari at the departure point. Before departing on your journey, you will be given instructions on how to control the sleds, which you will ride in pairs. Passengers may swap places at the halfway point. The head musher will talk about the life and training of these Arctic animals and you will also have the chance to take some great photos. The departure point may change according to weather conditions. A hot drink will be served by a campfire.

DAY 4

Morning : Snowmobile Safari (2 hours 30 minutes)

This snowmobile safari is to enjoy the beautiful nature of Fell Lapland and having no rush with driving. Route climb up the fells all the way to the top, where opens a beautiful landscape. Remember your camera as we will have plenty of pauses to take pictures! Hot berry juices will be served.

Evening : Reindeer Safari Searching for the Northern Lights (2 hours)

Sit back in sleigh pulled by the reindeer and start your journey into the quiet night forest. With some luck you might even see the Northern Lights dancing in the sky! Enjoy the warmth of campfire while sipping hot drink and listen to the sounds of the forest and fire.

DAY 5

Transfer to Ivalo Airport.
